Vintage Metal Trays Make the Best Chargers!
We made a small but wonderful discovery during a recent photo shoot and want to share. We have been scooping up vintage metal trays for use in our photo shoots and for sale on our site. We love the varying colors and designs and that inimitable vibe that comes with including vintage in the mix.
For our Memorial Day shoot we had collected quite a few vintage Ming round metal trays, featuringĀ Asian-inspired gardens of blue and white chrysanthemums. The blue and white motif made it an obvious choice for the all-American holidays coming up. Just add a pop of red!
But we were really excited when we reimagined these trays as chargers. Handy, sturdy, interesting vintage fun! We layered a variety of beautiful plates on top of the trays, including Beatriz Ball white melamine, Mark Sikes blue and white Ojai plates, blue and white toile paper plates and even Royal Doulton antique dessert plates! Pretty, fun, sophisticated, classic, depending how you mix it up.
Do try this at home!Ā Ā
We love the blue and white pattern on pattern here, and the slight touch of rosy red blooms on top!
We needed a little more red. Our vintage transferware dessert plates and La Vie En Rose napkins were happy to oblige.
The same tray in its intended use. Shown with our Rialto tulip glasses in Newport Blue and summer melon napkins.
Currently on the lookout for more of thisĀ vintage peach and blue English metal trayĀ to try as a set of chargers. In the meantime, it makes a beautiful tray.
Beauty is as beauty does!
